In the Studio Abstract Paintings in Progress

I really enjoy seeing work-in-progress and Artists working in their studios. Especially Artists working in abstract and contemporary imagery and subject matter. I’m going to try to do my part and post preview and work-in-progress of my abstract paintings and mixed media work.

Below are images of two very different types of current work I’m exploring.

The first is one of my new, large abstract paintings in the vein of “squeegee” paintings by Gerhard Richter. Using squeegees and scrapers is all I’ve used in the past couple years since I’ve started painting. The difference with these new paintings is the large size (40” wide by 65” high) and the custom tools I’ve recently built to use on these large canvases.

The second image is a close up of one of my new “woven” paintings. Works in this series have not been seen by the public yet. I hope to have several finished by the end of November.
